The well-known web portal Travel.ru –one of the most popular Russian-language tourism portals on the Internet– has announced the results of its annual Travel Star awards for 2006. Several thousand visitors to the Travel.ru site took part in the voting.
In the first quarter of 2007 all of S7 performance indicators improved, as we updated our aircraft fleet and expanded our flight network.
In the first quarter of 2007 S7 carried 906,000 passengers, 8% more than the figure for the corresponding period last year. We made 8,900 flights –an 18% rise– and flew 2,300,000,000 passenger kilometres –2% up on the 2006 figure. The total volume of cargo and post we carried in the first quarter of 2007 was up 11%, at 6,227 tonnes.
With the aim of making air travel to the Perm Region more affordable, S7 is reducing the minimum fare for its flights between Perm and Moscow. Now, instead of the 1499 RUB fare for tickets bought 30 days before departure, a 500 RUB fare for tickets booked 21 days before departure has been introduced. The total ticket cost will also include taxes and charges amounting to about 735 RUB. This fare will compete directly with the fare for the equivalent rail journey -not even in a couchette compartment, but in an ordinary one.
Following a trial period, S7 has started full-scale use of modern e-ticket (electronic ticket) selling technology. Today this is the most convenient way for passengers to acquire tickets, and the most popular in Europe and America. Every major airline uses it.
S7 has concluded a number of code-sharing agreements with other Russian airlines. Scheduled flights between Moscow and Khanty-Mansiysk (operated jointly with Vim Airlines), Novosibirsk and Krasnodar (operated jointly with Yakutia), and between Moscow (Vnukovo) and Vladivostok (operated jointly with Vladivostok Air) are now available to S7 passengers.
