The S7 Group has signed a contract for the supply of 15 long-haul Next-Generation Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft and has the confirmed right to purchase another 10 aircraft under the same terms. The company will receive the first 7 aircraft in 2014. The value of the contract, at the catalogue price for the aircraft, is $2,400,000,000.
The airline is to start using the aircraft commercially on international and domestic medium- and long-haul flights as part of its 7-year plan to overhaul the S7 fleet.
From 18 June 2007, the frequency of S7’s flights between Omsk and Moscow will almost double. A new flight, S7169/170, will operate five times a week, Monday to Friday, with a Boeing 737-500.
Fares* for the new flight will start from 3900 RUB - one way and 6900 RUB - round trip.
The evening flight from Omsk will be an excellent addition to S7’s existing daily morning flight to Moscow.
S7 Airlines continues to increase the number of its foreign-made aircraft. In May 2007, S7’s fleet was boosted by the arrival of a seventh Airbus A319 (with the aircraft registration number VP-BTS). The aircraft has been painted in S7’s colours and is set to fly from the Dutch city of Maastricht to Novosibirsk, where it will go through customs clearance.
Since April 2007, flights on S7’s Moscow — Makhachkala service have been operating on a year-round daily basis. In recent years, the service has operated on a daily basis only from June till August.
At present, the service uses a Tu-154 flying from Moscow Domodedovo Airport. As soon as Makhachkala Airport gets its certificate and receives the necessary permits, modern foreign Boeing and Airbus airliners will be used for the flights.
