S7 airlines and Russian online sales

Since the launch of the Bargain Fares program, almost the entire quota of tickets at the rock-bottom fares of 300 and 900 rubles for the most popular routes and dates has been sold through the online ticket office at S7’s website, www.s7.ru.

The Bargain Fares scheme is not only a good way of drawing passengers’ attention to this modern and convenient way of buying air tickets; it has also helped solve a basic marketing problem: how to get passengers interested in trying out buying S7 tickets online. Since the launch of the scheme, the average volume of ticket sales through the airline’s website has increased more than ten-fold.

As forecast by the airline’s experts, passengers have not been put off by the fact that the Bargain Fares are available only through the Internet. According to Anton Yeremin, S7’s First Deputy General Director, “it is a common misconception that today’s Russia is a not advanced country in which it is too early to run major online promotions. We assumed that the lack of active purchasers on the Internet was primarily down to the fact that there were no Internet offers. S7 Airlines decided to fill this gap. And, as you can see, we were not wrong.”

At present one can find a web fare of 300 rubles for a Moscow - Kazan flight, and there are still some web fares of 900 left for flights from Moscow to Chelyabinsk, Volgograd, Samara and Perm, and from Khabarovsk to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.

Taking into account the major increase in the demand for buying air tickets online, the special web fares scheme will be extended to practically all S7 flights, including international ones, from December 1. The fare for each route will depend only on the actual load factor for the flight in question, but will almost always be lower than the fare for tickets bought from air ticket offices in the traditional manner. S7’s passengers will thus always be able to go to the airline’s site and find attractive offers for themselves and their friends. For instance, the cost of a Moscow - Nizhny Novgorod flight will be almost the same as the volume of the taxes and the fuel charge. Tickets can be bought at web fares can be found for flights up until October 27 2007, inclusive, but no earlier than 30 days before the planned date of departure.

In December, passengers who, for whatever reason cannot make use of the opportunity to buy tickets online can take advantage of S7’s traditional Christmas sale and buy tickets for S7 flights at significant discounts.

You can find a flight timetable, check seat availability and book tickets on S7’s official website, www.s7.ru, or by calling (free from within Russia).
