S7 Airlines Receives Two New Airbus A320 Airliners

After commissioning, the new aircraft will transport passengers on the Moscow-Kemerovo, Moscow-Sochi, Moscow-Novosibirsk, Moscow-Frankfurt (Germany), Novosibirsk-Vladivostok and Novosibirsk-Beijing (PRC) routes.

The Airbus A320-200 is a modern narrow-body airplane designed to transport 164 passengers, with eight business class seats and 156 economy-class seats. Each new airplane has a spacious salon with new seat design and interior in bright tones. The aircraft has larger overhead bins, which creates additional convenience for passengers while reducing boarding and deboarding times.

Thanks to their numerous merits, these aircrafts have quickly acquired a reputation as very comfortable aircraft for flights on short and medium-range routes.

In 2007 S7 Airlines continued to implement its strategic fleet renewal program in effect until 2014. The program involves the conclusion of several large contracts with the world’s leading civil aircraft manufacturers Boeing and Airbus on the acquisition of more than 50 new airplanes, including:

    »  25 Airbus A320s with the first delivery scheduled for 2009;
    »  10 Boeing 737-800s with the first delivery scheduled for 2010;
    »  15 Boeing 787 Dreamliners with the first delivery scheduled for 2014 (the airline will be first Russian user of these ultramodern airplanes).

S7 Airlines’ fleet currently includes 69 long-distance aircrafts including 33 of foreign manufacture:

    »  2 Airbus A310-300s;
    »  5 Airbus A310-200s;
    »  4 Airbus A320-200s;
    »  17 Airbus A319-100s;
    »  3 Boeing 737-500s;
    »  2 Boeing 737-400s;

And 36 Russian-made airplanes:

    »  9 Il-86s;
    »  27 Tu-154Ms;

Currently about 200 airlines of the world use more than 3,400 airplanes of the A320 family, which includes the A318, A319, A320 and A321 aircrafts. Nearly 2,000 airplanes of the A320 model have been manufactured. More than 6,100 orders have been received for airplanes of the A320 family.
