S7 Airlines has launched the Green Steps educational program that aims to teach about ethical and sustainable travel. The program is part of the company’s sustainable development strategy. Our Green Steps partner is Teper Tak, a sustainable consumption project.
A new section by the same name that contains lessons, is now available in the S7 Airlines mobile app. Here users can find life hacks for responsible consumption, examples of environmentally friendly practices that S7 Airlines adheres to in its work, and additional materials on this topic. Lessons cover such topics as the impact of tourism on local communities and the environment, the basics of sustainable consumption, ethical travel planning, and more.
At the end of each lesson, users are presented with a quiz to check the things they have learned. The airline credits 50 miles to the 7 Priority account for completing the quiz successfully. A new lesson is made available to users a week after the completion of the previous one.
S7 Airlines plans to further develop and add new formats to the Green Steps program in order to help travelers acquire good habits and learn more about planning their travel sustainably.
S7 Airlines advocates a responsible attitude to the environment: eco-friendliness and social responsibility are the key directions of the airline’s development. Thus, the S7 Airlines fleet includes modern aircraft equipped with new-generation engines. By consuming 15-16% less fuel, they can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by one metric ton per one hour of flight, which is equivalent to charging your smartphone 122,000 times. The S7 Airlines' green initiatives include the work for reducing the use of plastic and single-use items on board the aircraft and in offices, as well as large-scale projects to protect the environment. For example, in 2019 S7 Airlines organized a fundraiser to restore Siberian forests after the fires and plant a million new trees in Siberia.
You can join the Green Steps program in the S7 Airlines mobile app available both for iOS and Android. It is available to our S7 Priority loyalty program members.
