Naturally it was a gay friend of mine who took me to Schwules Museum. I expected it to be some kind of a mixture between a sex shop and Wolfgang Tillmans' art. Surely I was surprised to see how drastically the rights of sex minorities have changed over the past decades. The permanent collection and impressive temporary exhibitions objectively represent a severe and at the same touching 200-year history of homosexuality. The emphasis is made on Berlin gay culture. Schwules Museum is a must-see place for all self-respecting gays and their sympathizers.
