One of the most hipster pubs of Dalston, playing DJ and having live music groups performances almost every day. You can meet the guys from the Klaxons or Franz Ferdinand, playing here billiards or pinball on Fridays. I visit it almost daily since I live upstairs above the pub. Unfortunately, there's nothing romantic in it, and sometimes we quarrel with neighbours. For example, we recently argued with the guys from The Horrors, who have a studio here.
This pub is owned by the same people as a bunch of others in East London (Monarch, The Three Crowns), they all are also engaged in a music festival Field Day in Victoria Park. So in terms of musical selections here there is no problem! Recently there was a Light Asylum performance, and entrance to the concert was only £5.
The art gallery upstairs exhibits students’ and designers’ artworks, and such renowned artists as, for example, Nicky Carwell of Brooklyn show their works here. Generally, Shacklewell Arms is not exactly a traditional pub, it rather looks like a squat or some art location.
