S7 Airlines joins International Air Carrier Association
S7 Airlines has announced it is joining the International Air Carrier Association (IACA).
The Association represents the interests of its member airlines with the aviation authorities of the European Union and EUROCONTROL. IACA specialists continuously monitor changes in the regulations covering flight safety, the environment, passengers’ rights and taxation, and keep members informed of any changes.
The Association works with airports in popular tourist cities, including those in Europe, on matters of slot allocation, charges, ground services and fuel supply, allowing members to find services on the best terms.
«Thanks to the liberalisation of the international agreements between Russia and European countries, the number of flights made to the European Union is increasing each year. We have to understand how changes in European legislation — such as carbon credit trading, common navigation space, and increasing competition between airports — could affect the operations of a Russian airline company. It is easier to find these solutions within the IACA framework», Vadim Besperstov, S7 Airlines Strategic Development Director, noted.
The Association, founded in 1971 by a group of aviation experts, has its headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, and represents 34 airlines. S7 Airlines’ oneworld partners Finnair, airberlin and Niki are also members.
S7 Airlines (the brand of Siberia Airlines, www.s7.ru) is a member of the oneworld® global aviation alliance.
The airline has the widest domestic route network in Russia, created on the basis of three air transport hubs at Moscow (Domodedovo), Novosibirsk (Tolmachevo) and Irkutsk. S7 Airlines also performs regular flights to countries of the CIS, Europe, the Near East, South Asia and countries of the Asia-Pacific region.
In 2007 the company received an official IATA certificate as an IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit) operator, becoming the second air carrier in Russia to have successfully passed the full international audit procedure for compliance with operational safety standards.
