S7 Airlines makes flight check-in quicker

S7 Airlines, a oneworld® global airline alliance member, is the first among the airlines to offer a new service for passengers, which allows to check-in and buy ancillary services at the airport quicker and easier than before.

There are additional employees of the airline working in the flight check-in area for S7 Airlines own flights at Domodedovo and Tolmachevo airports, each of them equipped with a mobile check-in device, which allows to check-in passengers for a flight, book ancillary services, accept payment, issue an electronic receipt and a check, as well as to print a boarding pass. Since October 2017, when the testing phase of the service has begun, more than 10,000 passengers of S7 Airlines have had the opportunity to appreciate its convenience.

“The results of the first months of work of our additional employees at the airports show the high efficiency of this solution. Thanks to it, we have managed to significantly increase the speed of flight check-in, which, of course, finds a positive response among passengers. On average 250 passengers use this unique service every day at Moscow Domodedovo Airport only,” notes Svetlana Kulyukina, Passenger Experience Department Director at S7 Group.

The mobile app installed on S7 Airlines employees’ smartphones was developed using modern mobile technologies. In particular, it can read QR codes and barcodes on boarding passes. In addition, employees are equipped with a fiscal mobile printer and a card reader for non-cash payments.

This way, if a passenger travels without baggage, they can quickly check-in for a flight, pay for all the necessary services, for example, a service class upgrade, and get a boarding pass, all without standing in a queue at the check-in counter. At the same time, passengers who have already checked-in for a flight online need not worry about printing the boarding pass themselves.
