S7 Airlines presented Imagination Machine

S7 Airlines, a member of the oneworld® global aviation alliance®, presented in Moscow Imagination Machine high-technology installation, which enables to direct flights using the power of imagining.

Imagination Machine is installed in one of Moscow shopping and entertainment malls1. The installation includes a stand with an aircraft model and a two-meter globe with four projectors providing 3D-image of the earth surface. A headset synchronized with the globe enables to move the aircraft with brain impulses.

During this day any visitor of the shopping mall can try to direct an air flight with brain impulses. To start the experiment the participant should choose a place on the map where he/she would like to travel. Then the participant takes a seat on the armchair in front of the installation and directs the flight concentrating his/her attention on the point of destination.

The headset reads brain electric impulses and transfers them through Bluetooth to the computer, which transforms brain activities into commands directing the flight. The more the participant is concentrated on the aim, the higher is the chance to direct the air craft model to the desired destination point.

Every participant who successfully performed the virtual flight will receive a free air ticket for a flight to the chosen city with S7 Airlines or other oneworld global aviation alliance member airlines.

All participants will get 5000 bonus miles of the S7 Priority frequent flyer programme2, which can be used as payment for awards in the programme, including for award air tickets of S7 Airlines or other oneworld alliance member airlines. Together the alliance member airlines operate flights to more than 900 destinations in 150 countries in the world.

Within first two hours of the event seven participants of the experiment could get air tickets. Among them two persons won tickets to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, and other persons won tickets to Irkutsk, Rome, New York, Rio de Janeiro and Denpasar each.

Special guests — Migel, Irena Ponaroshku, Olga Shelest, Artem Korolev and Adelina Sotnikova — were the first to estimate capacities of the modern technology.

S7 Airlines launched the promotion campaign #IWANTTOGOWHERE campaign on 16 March 2015.

During the promotional campaign all travelers will get an opportunity to get closer to their dreams on www.s7.ru website and official websites of S7 Airlines’ partners in social networks Facebook and VKontakte. All they have to do is suggest a phrase “I want to the place where…» and describe the world of their dreams, - and S7 Airlines will find that place on the map, and will offer the best flights available. You can also post your request on your Facebook and VKontakte page by adding # IWANTTOGOWHERE hashtag and the airline official account.

The installation includes:

  • a two-meter sphere (“globe”) with four projectors providing 3D-image of the earth surface;
  • an aircraft model 30 cm long designed by means of 3D printing;
  • a headset equipped with Neurosky sensors which work on the basis of electroencephalograph principles;
  • computers with special software providing for synchronized functioning of the installment elements.
