S7 Airlines summarizes its business activity

S7 Group1 member airlines have summarized the results of their activity in 2014. During the last year S7 Group member airlines carried 10.066 million passengers — 9% more than in 2013.

A more intensive growth was indicated on domestic routes — 10.2 % comparing with the last year, on international routes 6.4 % more passengers were transported. The total number of flights increased by 8.9% up to 86 109.

“The results of the airlines’ activity in 2014 correspond to our forecasts and meet our expectations. For the first time we carried more than 10 million passengers during one year. This can be attributed not only to the route network expansion and fleet development, but also to the development of services allowing to make the trip with maximum comfort. In this year our passengers can expect a number of new travel routes both within Russia and to foreign cities”, Igor Veretennikov, S7 Group Strategy Director, noted.

In 2014 the airline passenger turnover grew by 8.1% up to 21 142 thousand pkm. Cargo turnover grew by 7.5% and reached 2 020 647 thousand tkm.

To a great extent the index growth is conditioned by the development of the airline fleet. Last year S7 Airlines received directly from manufacturing plants five aircrafts — two Airbus A320 and three Boeing 737-800. At the moment the airline fleet includes 60 Airbus and Boeing aircrafts and is one of the most modern and up-to-date on the Russian air transportation market.

In 2014 S7 Airlines route network expanded by a number of new domestic and international destinations. The airline opened flights from Moscow to Cyprus — Paphos and Larnaca, from Irkutsk and Vladivostok to Seoul, from Moscow to Ferghana, etc. In November S7 Airlines also launched a new flight on the route Moscow — Voronezh and became the first airline, which operates flights on this route on modern Airbus A320 aircrafts. At present flights between the two cities are made twice a day. In 2014 S7 Airlines also increased the frequency of flights to some Russian cities, including Ufa, Kazan and Omsk.
