S7 start scheduled daily Moscow-Tomsk flights with Airbus 319
S7 now operates scheduled daily Moscow-Tomsk flights with an Airbus 319 (A319). This medium-range aircraft, manufactured by the European consortium Airbus, has a spacious and comfortable two-class cabin layout designed for 120 passengers in economy class and 8 in business class.
In summer 2006, as part of its fleet modernization program, S7 leased 6 A319 aircraft. The A319, along with the A318, A320 and A321, belongs to the Airbus A320 family of modern narrow-body aircraft. The aircraft used by S7 are equipped with CFM56-5 engines made by CFM International. All the aircrafts were built in 1999-2000. They are painted bright green, in keeping with S7’s new image.
‘According to the results of numerous independent surveys, passengers have taken to heart the spacious and comfortable cabins of the aircraft in the A320 family, which have wider seats in them, while carriers and investors strongly prefer these aircrafts for their modern construction and attractive cost-effectiveness,’ commented an Airbus spokesperson.
‘The residents of other cities in Western Siberia have already received the opportunity to assess the merits of this modern airplane; now those from Tomsk have been linked up with it too. Today every airport in Western Siberia, except for Novokuznetsk, handles the A319,’ said Sergei Stepanishchev, Director of the S7 Group’s Siberian regional branch.
