Siberia Airlines performed first flight to Japan in March of 1996. Transport of biathlonists was made on the route Moscow — Tokyo - Novosibirsk — Moscow. In the beginning of April of 2002 Siberia Airlines performed chartered flight to Japan with official delegation from Irkutsk. During Irkutsk region presentation in Tokyo, «Siberia» declared about new flight Irkutsk — Niigata opening in 2003. In the year of 2001 Siberia Airlines took the second place among Russian air carriers in passenger turnover. During last year the company carried more than 1900 thousand passengers.
